US Embassy in Venezuela Remains Closed for Visa Processing

The U.S. Embassy in Caracas, Venezuela stopped processing visas on January 25, 2019, due to diplomatic tensions. Although the State Department has not yet formally designated an alternative consulate for visa processing, the U.S. Embassy in Lima, Peru confirmed its availability for processing immigrant and nonimmigrant visa applications.

Venezuelans who need to apply for nonimmigrant visas to the United States, such as visitor (B-1/B-2), student (F-1) and employment-based visas (J, H, L, and O), can apply at any other US Consulate in the world so long as they have a visa to enter that country and have confirmed with that Consulate it will accept their application. Immigrant visa processing is different, so Venezuelans should contact the US Consulate in Lima, Peru to confirm they can proceed with their immigrant visa applications there.
