E-Verify is Back in Action: Deadline to Create Cases is February 11, 2019
Now that the federal government's most recent shutdown has ended and E-Verify has resumed operations, employers registered with E-Verify must create cases in E-Verify for all employees hired during the shutdown. The deadline to create these cases is February 11, 2019.
E-Verify employers must use the hire date from the employee’s Form I-9 when creating the E-Verify case. If the case creation date is more than three days following the date the employee began working for pay, select “Other” from the drop-down list and enter “E-Verify Not Available” as the specific reason.
USCIS has indicated that employers may experience longer-than-usual processing times as USCIS works through a large volume of accumulated cases. You may receive a response that they are working on your submission.
